Revised Retirement Home Policy to Implement Directives





Further to the last communication issued December 17th, this update provides additional measures to be implemented. The changes are highlighted below and are effective immediately or as indicated:


Changes to Requirements for Absences


Temporary (overnight) absence

  • Permitted unless the resident is self isolating.

  • Residents must follow public health measures during the absence.

  • Active screening on return.

  • All residents, regardless of vaccination status, will require a negative lab-based PCR test upon return to Heritage Place (within 24 hours) and at Day 7 again.

  • Resident must organize their own PCR test and isolate on Droplet and Contact precautions until a second negative test result from Day 7 is confirmed.

  • Please be advised that residents will be charged for tray service during their isolation period.

Changes to Requirements for Communal Dining & Recreational Services

Communal Dining Effective Thursday, December 23rd, 2021:

Resident Precautions:

  • Medical/Surgical masking when not eating or drinking is strongly recommended.

  • Bungalow residents must undergo Rapid Antigen Testing to enter main building.

  • Physical distancing (2 metres separation) of tables.

  • Consistent seating of resident groups - two mealtimes for lunch and dinner as follows:



Staff Precautions:

  • Universal masking/eye protection is required in the dining room.


  • New Year’s Eve party is cancelled.
